League of Their Own

Alcon Engineers and Wavell State High School have formed a winning partnership in the Rugby League Excellence Program that is a gateway to success for aspiring young players.

The program gives students the chance to receive high-quality coaching while studying rugby league as a subject. Wavell High has been at the forefront of producing top rugby league talent, with many male and female players progressing to the elite National Rugby League competition, and Queensland and Australia representation.

Since 2021, Alcon Engineers’ Platinum level sponsorship, in addition to other community support, has helped the school provide coaching workshops for staff and students, financial scholarship support and player mentoring.

Wavell’s Rugby League Excellence Program is backed by the Brisbane Broncos (NRL) and Norths Devils (Queensland Cup).

In 2021, Alcon Engineers also was a Platinum level sponsor of Wavell High’s Netball Excellence Program.
